Four Corners of the Sky...more questions

Here's a few more...
3. Who does Jack love?  How does he show it?  How do other characters in the book demonstrate love in different ways? How do the important people in your life demonstrate love? How do you show that you care about someone?
4. When Annie is 17 her father comes to visit and wants her to come and meet him the night before she leaves for Paris but she refuses. Why doesn’t she go? Would you have gone in that situation?
5. How does forgiveness play a role in Annie’s relationship with her father? How does forgiveness play a role in all relationships? Which of your relationships requires the most forgiveness?

Four Corners of the SKy Question Two

2. Raffy said, “That’s Jack’s gift.  To make you feel it.  He was an artist…He did it for art.”  Do you agree or disagree?  Could Jack be considered an artist? Do you think that was why he did what he did?

Let's talk about writers writing about writers!

It's almost time for this years Key West Literary Seminar:  "WRITERS ON WRITERS."  This means it is also time for our annual Book Bites Book Club discussion of the authors appearing at the seminar.  The KWLS pr grams are available at the library and they contain enough biographical information, essays and poems to generate a lively discussion.  There is also a display in the library full of books by many of the authors appearing at one or both of the sessions.  So stop by and pick up a pr gram or a book and come to BOOK BITES on Thursday January 10th at 4:30 at the KW Library.

Best reads of the year

Season is here and Book Bites is starting up! I want to know what are the best books you've read this year?
My top choice is:
1. The Age of Miracles by Karen Thompson Walker
Wow, even when the entire planet is undergoing major cataclysmic changes what  it is to be a 12 year old girl is still the same.
After that in no order are:
Arcadia by Lasuren Groff
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
The Borrower by Rebecca Makkai
I also have lots of other runners up but those 4 left me breathless or teary at many points.  (I couldn't speak for a good minute at the end of Age of Miracles--what a fabulous book!)
And if you are in town don't forget:
